September 2026 | CgA Therapeuticals Receives NIH/NIDDK SBIR Phase I Award for Gastroparesis

CgA Therapeuticals, Inc. has received a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I award from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIH/NIDDK) for the project, “Peptide and Peptidomimetic Therapy for Gastroparesis” (1R43DK148298-01).

The program will advance catestatin (CST) and next-generation CST peptidomimetics as potential therapeutics for gastroparesis through preclinical efficacy, pharmacology, pharmacokinetic, and therapeutic-development studies. The award represents an important milestone in CgA Therapeuticals' efforts to translate CST biology into novel treatments for gastrointestinal disorders.

September 2026 | CST Study Targeting Tau and Amyloid Pathology Accepted for Publication

A new study investigating the therapeutic effects of catestatin in neurodegenerative disease has been accepted for publication in Molecular Therapy.

The study provides preclinical evidence that CST acts on multiple pathological processes associated with Alzheimer's disease and related neurodegenerative disorders, including Tau and amyloid pathology, neuroinflammation, and associated functional deficits. The findings further support development of CST as a potential multi-pathway peptide therapeutic for neurodegenerative disease.

The complete citation and publication link will be added upon publication.

May 2026 | Study Reveals a Role for Catestatin in Restoring Cardiac Metabolic Flexibility

A study published in Communications Biology demonstrates that catestatin can restore cardiac metabolic flexibility and enhance mitochondrial function, providing new insights into the cardiometabolic actions of CST and its potential therapeutic applications.

Kal S, et al. Catestatin restores cardiac metabolic flexibility and enhances mitochondrial function. Communications Biology. 2026;9(1):1110.

This work expands the therapeutic foundation for CST in cardiovascular and metabolic disease and provides additional mechanistic support for development of CST-based therapeutics.

April 2026 | AI-Guided Study Establishes a Murine Model of Asymptomatic Alzheimer's Disease

A study published in Acta Neuropathologica Communications reports the AI-guided discovery and experimental characterization of a murine model of asymptomatic Alzheimer's disease (AsymAD).

Using Boolean implication network analysis of human Alzheimer's disease datasets followed by experimental validation, the study identifies molecular signatures and biological mechanisms associated with cognitive resilience despite Alzheimer's disease-related pathology.

Jati S, et al. AI-guided discovery of a murine model of asymptomatic Alzheimer's disease. Acta Neuropathologica Communications. 2026;14(1):110.

The findings provide a new experimental framework for investigating mechanisms of resilience to Alzheimer's disease and identifying potential therapeutic targets for preserving cognitive function.

January 2026 | CgA Therapeuticals Executes Exclusive Therapeutic License with UC San Diego

CgA Therapeuticals entered into an exclusive license agreement with The Regents of the University of California, represented by UC San Diego, covering defined patent rights for therapeutic applications of technologies arising from the company's scientific programs.

The licensed intellectual property includes inventions spanning cardiometabolic disease, neurodegeneration and cognitive decline, and oncology, providing an important foundation for the continued development and commercialization of CST-based therapeutic technologies.
